MOVIES:
CLOUD ATLAS
I’m not just excited about this movie–I’m obsessed with this trailer! What a feast for the senses. Based on David Mitchell’s 2004 novel of the same name. It’s already generating some controversy because many of the actors play multiple roles–including some of different races. Great trailers don’t always mean great movies, but I’m hopeful this will deliver on its promise.
SEVEN PSYCHOPATHS
I don’t know why, but there’s something about comedies with animals in peril that tickles me. Martin McDonagh‘s previous film, In Bruges, was really good, so I’m expecting a lot from this one. And what a COOL cast!
HYDE PARK ON HUDSON
People are often surprised when comic actors acquit themselves well in dramatic roles, which is odd, since comedy is so difficult to do well. And who knew that King George VI would become a favorite subject for filmmakers? I loved The King’s Speech, and this movie looks like it’s going to be a great companion piece.
BOOKS:
THE TWELVE
The long wait is almost over! Very excited to read the follow-up to Justin Cronin‘s The Passage, especially since he left us with a huge cliff-hanger at the end of the first book.
WINTER OF THE WORLD
Yep, another sequel, this one to Ken Follett‘s Fall of Giants. The first book followed five families through World War I and this book will follow their children through World War II. Looking forward to Follett’s signature epic storytelling and memorable characters.
TV SHOWS:
REVOLUTION
The dystopian craze hits TV. Hope it delivers, because it’s J.J. Abrams and the cast looks great.
BOARDWALK EMPIRE SEASON THREE
After the shocking ending of last season’s finale, it will be interesting to see how the show regroups. I’m betting it will still be awesome.
I love that books have their own trailers now. 🙂
Me, too. Some are homemade, but they’re still really cool. I saw one that was made by the author’s son, and it was really good!
After reading UR review of Revolution & watching the preview it doesn’t seem too great.
